DefenceForge.net
Let's do something different!
Welcome
This is a quick and dirty page to act as a 'line in the sand' for DefenceForge.net. Our objective is to provide a repository for open approaches to common defence problems. The intention is to attract like-minded developers who want to use open approaches to develop non-proprietary common software solutions to defence, intelligence, and homeland security challenges. We encourage you to highlight links to open projects that are of relevance to our areas of interest, to start new projects that meet known challenges, and to participate in discussions of open approaches. We are also encouraging the defence community to raise challenges through us.
We believe that there are many developers out there who are frustrated by standard corporate approaches to defence and who see, like us, that open approaches represent better value for money and quicker times to deployment. For them, the rewards lie in meeting the challenge and, perhaps, in having a project pulled through to a defence programme.
We are not naive enough to expect that this will be an easy process - both sides will have to learn and perhaps compromise. We also anticipate that people will try to shut us down because of what we are doing. To that end, we will be as open about our activities and interactions as we hope you will be in working together. Until the full site is posted, we have posted a few examples of what can be achieved through open approaches and would ask you to contact us through the email below in the interim.
